HOWIES - 1A Alva Street, West End, Edinburgh - Celebrating its twentieth birthday, Howies is a well-known fixture in the Edinburgh dining scene. The Alva Street branch is housed in a homely basement with lots of nooks and crannies and a contrasting bright conservatory. CHEZ JULES - 109 Hanover Street, New Town, Edinburgh - This new French restaurant has been an instant hit in the New Town. It offers casual  but delicious French dining in a colourful bistro style setting. With its great value and friendly service customers are returning time and time again. A great new find! ENGLISHMAN, SCOTSMAN AND AN IRISHMAN - 46 Queen Charlotte, Leith, Edinburgh - This restaurant has a  quirky name and an equally quirky venue. Housed in a former fire station, the white brickwork and splashes of art work create a bright, spacious dining area that's as welcoming as the enthusiastic English, Scots and Irish owners and staff.
